With nearly 700 restaurants, the Branson - Springfield area runs the gamut in cuisines from the elegant Gallery Bistro offering French, American, Mediterranean and Asian foods to the casual South Avenue Pizza Company with its New York-style pies. Word spread like wildfire, and Springfield-style Cashew Chicken now can be found in more than 60 Asian restaurants around Springfield as well as coast to coast. Chili is also a regional favorite, perhaps no more so than at Casper’s, a tiny Quonset hut in downtown Springfield that packs in patrons wall-to-wall for chili, burgers, and big helpings of eclectic atmosphere.
